Published in spring 2006, the 23rd issue of the Journal of American Studies of Turkey focuses entirely on Chicana and Chicano literature. The essays cover a wide range of genres and themes. Carmen Flys-Junquera looks at Lucha Corpi's detective fiction, while Manuel M. Martín-Rodríguez traces the history of Chicano children's books. Several writers focus on identity and space in well-known works. Stella Bolaki writes about Sandra Cisneros’s The House on Mango Street, and Pablo Ramírez examines the politics of Aztlán in novels by Rudolfo Anaya and Ron Arias. The issue also features conversations with writers Diana Montejano and Cherríe Moraga, finishing up with book reviews on Luis Alberto Urrea and Esmeralda Santiago.
