Abstract

This article analyzes the profound impact of poet Robert Creeley on both the academic community at Buffalo State and individuals in Turkey, particularly Barış Gümüşbaş. The author recounts how Creeley's influence extended beyond his literary work, transforming lives through personal interactions and mentorship. The paper explores Creeley's visit to Turkey in 1992, facilitated by the author's Fulbright grant, highlighting his readings, teaching sessions, and cultural immersion. The article argues that Creeley's unique approach to poetry and life left a lasting impression on students and colleagues alike, fostering deep connections and intellectual growth. Key findings include the transformative power of Creeley's teachings and the enduring friendships forged during his visit. The significance of this work lies in its documentation of Creeley's lesser-known international influence and the personal narratives that underscore his legacy.
