JAST 31: Spring 2010
Published in spring 2010, the 31st issue of the Journal of American Studies of Turkey covers a mix of poetry, science fiction, and feminist theater. Verena Laschinger examines the politics and poetics in Bayard Taylor’s travel writing, while Marta Soares looks at Adrienne Rich’s poetry. Ceylan Ertung shifts to science fiction, analyzing Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower. Salwa Karoui-Elounelli addresses how postmodern American novels handle knowledge, and Marta Fernández-Morales writes about performance and illness in U.S. feminist theater. The issue finishes up with a few book reviews on race, religion, and Susan Sontag, plus Michael Oppermann's critique of Joe Wright’s film Hanna.
