Abstract

This article presents a collection of poems by Norma Cantú that explore themes of war, grammar, migration, and cultural critique. The article analyzes how Cantú's poetry challenges conventional understandings of conflict, language, and identity. Through vivid imagery and metaphor, the poems examine the complexities of human experience, from the personal to the political. Cantú's work demonstrates a deep engagement with the power dynamics embedded in language and societal structures. The paper explores how her poetic voice gives expression to marginalized perspectives, particularly those of Mexican-American women. This study examines Cantú's use of metaphor and symbolism to critique cultural rituals and historical narratives. The significance of this work lies in its contribution to discussions on Chicana literature, feminist poetics, and the intersectionality of race, gender, and language.
